VCTI explores opportunities for Vietnamese-Chinese cooperation in the field of high-tech agriculture

During a visit to the Tropical Agricultural Research and Consulting Center, representatives from VCTI discussed the need for the application of technology in agricultural production in Vietnam and the prospects for cooperation with Chinese enterprises.

The need for technology in agricultural modernization

During the exchange, Mr. Bai, Director of the Center, said that Vietnam is accelerating the modernization of agriculture. The large scale of the cultivation market and the large number of farmers create an urgent need for new technologies, products that apply scientific and technical knowledge, and integrated solutions to support production.

The areas mentioned include the application of unmanned aerial vehicles for irrigation and plant protection, artificial intelligence (AI)-based monitoring technology, and smart, green farm solutions. According to the discussion at the meeting, these are all promising directions for widespread application in Vietnam.

Opportunities for fertilizers and microbial products

In addition to technological solutions, the fertilizer market and microbial products are also considered to have great potential for development.

According to the information exchanged, some products on the Vietnamese market are currently mainly imported from the United States at relatively high prices. If Chinese enterprises can provide alternative products with stable quality and more competitive prices, this will be an opportunity to access the market.

The ability to simultaneously meet both quality and cost requirements is considered an important factor for the competitiveness of these products.

Exchange of experiences on varieties and cultivation techniques

The meeting also discussed China’s experience in developing new varieties, popularizing cultivation techniques, and implementing production on a commercial scale. Varieties such as Golden Kiwi and Muscat Wine Shine were mentioned as examples that have been replicated and developed in China.

Meanwhile, Vietnam is actively studying the techniques for growing carrots, melons, and other crops on a large scale. This is the basis for the two sides to exchange experiences and explore the feasibility of applying techniques suited to the actual production conditions.

From the shared needs, high-tech agriculture, cultivation techniques, agricultural inputs, and smart agricultural solutions are expected to open up more space for cooperation between Vietnam and China.
