MADEX SRL: Promoting sustainable fashion and affirming the potential for high-quality production in Vietnam

By reusing old jackets, taking advantage of surplus fabric, and creatively combining it with local craftsmanship, MADEX SRL – a manufacturing company from Italy – is developing a garment reuse model on an industrial scale in Vietnam.

Exchange with MADEX at OCTF Hanoi

As part of the Fourth Vietnam Smart Technology Expo – OCTF in Hanoi, representatives from VCTI had an exchange with Mr. Andrea Galante from MADEX SRL about the philosophy of garment reuse and the company’s vision for Vietnam. As an Italian-based manufacturing company, MADEX is continuing to develop the idea of reusing clothing and applying this model on an industrial scale in Vietnam. The company’s philosophy is simple but carries a powerful message: Don't throw away clothes or take them to the landfill; look at the value they can bring.

Giving clothing a new life

With MADEX, old jackets and surplus fabrics can still serve as inspiration for new products. Through processing and creativity, the company seeks to preserve the value of clothing while reducing waste.

This approach is expressed through specific products:

  • Renewing an old jacket: Used jackets are washed and treated using traditional methods, thereby giving them a new life cycle.
  • Creativity from fabric leftovers: The remaining fabric is utilized by combining new colors and designing new patterns, using creativity to replace waste.
  • Combined with local talent: A particularly impressive work created by a young Vietnamese artist demonstrates that sustainable development is entirely possible in combination with the craftsmanship and creativity of the Vietnamese people.

These products clearly embody the spirit of MADEX: recognizing the value of what is already there and seeking to bring it back to life through engineering and design thinking.

Vietnam and its potential for high-value-added production

With the new showroom at Ocean Park and a network of customers in Europe, the United States, Japan, and South Korea, MADEX is showing that Vietnam can gradually become an important manufacturing base that produces high-value-added products and emphasizes responsibility in production.

The business model also offers a specific perspective on the combination of international experience, production capabilities in Vietnam, and local creativity in the field of sustainable fashion.

“Quality” – Confidence in Vietnamese quality

During the exchange, when asked to use one word to describe Vietnam's development over the past two to three years, Mr. Andrea Galante replied: “Quality” – “Quality”.

He believes that in the not too distant future, Vietnam could become “the land of quality” – “the land of quality”. The representative of VCTI also shared and agreed with this vision.

With the garment reuse model being implemented in Vietnam, MADEX demonstrates the potential for combining responsible production with local creativity. Mr. Andrea Galante’s assessment of Vietnam becoming a “land of quality” also reflects the business’s confidence in the potential for development of the domestic manufacturing sector.
